Real Madrid vs Chelsea Preview and Prediction: UEFA Champions League Match on 27.04.2021

The Champions League semifinal is one schedule this week when Real Madrid and Chelsea are squaring off in Estadio Alfredo di Stefano at the first leg. Los Blancos is bound to the public enemy in Europe for their decision to stick to European Super League plan to this day. The Blues could take this opportunity to pick up points as Luka Modric and Co are under pressure. Although Thomas Tuchel’s men were also included in the project, they were the first to step out and could channel their annoyance to Madrid for luring them in for the wrong cause.

Los Blancos were once again held in a goalless draw in La Liga title race while hosting Real Betis. This failure led them to drop points and might cost their chance to defend the title as their archrival has one game behind.

Chelsea was able to snatch a narrow win over West Ham last weekend. Their winning goal was scored by Timo Werner. They are now the frontrunner for securing the last spot of UCL.

Possible tactics

Zinedine Zidane will need to change the formation to 3-4-3 considering the mounting list of names in their injury table. Sergio Ramos, Ferland Mendy, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Lucas Vasquez and Federico Valverde are all sidelined. Thus, the backline will be covered by Raphael Varane, Eder Militao and Alvaro Odriozola or Nacho. In the midfield, Marcelo and Dani Carvajal are playing wide while Casemiro and Isco will be in the middle. Karim Benzema will still be leading the attack as usual accompanied by Vinicius Junior or Eden Hazard and Marco Asencio.

Karim Benzema is still the main scorer in Real Madrid with twenty one goals and seven assists in La Liga this season. Some other notable names to watch are Casemiro contributing five goals and three assists and last but not least the former Chelsea goalie, Thibault Cortois.

Meanwhile, Mason Mount is one of the top performers in Chelsea with six goals and four assists. Some other key figures are Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger plus the former Leicester man, Ben Chillwell who has netted three goals and provided five assists in EPL and Champions League.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea Prediction

Zinedine Zidane’s men unconvincing form against the high profile teams is something the French boss should concern. The return of Eden Hazard does not really boost their confidence due to his poor form during his days in Madrid. The Blues’s solid defence could put them in the difficulty. Sharing spoils is more likely.
