Manchester City vs Leicester City Prediction: Premier League Match on 27.09.2020
Preview and Prediction
The Citizens will never waste their time in securing a win in each game so that their horrible season last year would not happen again. Thus, Guardiola’s men are expected to pick up maximum points in every fixture of EPL, including the one on this weekend when they will be hosting Leicester City. The Foxes which snatched good results in the first two games shall never meet their first real challenge of the season here.
The teams’ previous games
Manchester City proved that they would not stumble again in Molineux this season after beating the host 3-1 last Monday. Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring through a penalty. Phil Foden then doubled their lead 12 minutes later. Wolves’ Raul Jimenez netted a lifeline before Gabi Jesus closed the score sheet before the final whistle.
Meanwhile, Leicester City trashed Burnley 4-2 last weekend. Yet, they started the game unconvincingly and conceded by Chris Wood. Harvey Barnes could equalise ten minutes later. The score remained tied at the first half. At the second half, Brendan Rodgers showed their true class by scoring three more goals through Erik Pieters’s own goal, James Justin and the former Sampdoria man, Dennis Praet. Burnely only managed to respond one more by Jimmy Dunne.
Pep Guardiola is likely to employ 4-2-3-1 again since a number of players are still on the sideline such as Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero, Joao Cancelo, Ilkay Gundogan, Olexandre Zincheko and Eric Garcia. Gabi Jesus will still be the main frontman while Kevin de Bruyne is the number ten while Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden are operating on both wings.
Brendan Rodgers, on the other hand, will not risk deploying the normal 4-1-4-1 as it will only give their contender an advantage to exploit their space in the midfield. Thus, he is likely to transform it to 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 instead. Jamie Vardy is still opted for the lone striker while James Maddison can be given a role as the second striker or pushing Youri Tielemans a bit forward as the false ten or occasional playmaker. Unfortunately, Winfred Ndidi, Ricardo Perreira, Johnny Evans and Filip Benkovic
Players to watch
Kevin de Bruyne is still the anchorman of The Citizens’ attacking line. The Belgium international is accompanied by Phil Foden who has the potential as a playmaker. Some other notable names to watch are Raheem Sterling and Gabi Jesus.
In Leicester, apart from Jamie Vardy, the Belgian connection will be the next key figures of the team. Youri Tielemans, Timothy Castagne and Dennis Praet have all the potentials to be the main men in their midfield.
Manchester City vs Leicester City Prediction
Guardiola’s men should have sealed the win without too much trouble. Leicester under the former Swansea and Liverpool boss tends to be less pragmatic, focusing on ball possession and playing offensive football. They could be The Citizens’ easy target for the weekend goal festivity at their home turf.
